Presenting DrinkMelbourne’s top 10 tipsy events in Melbourne this month…

2. Think of this as a beginner’s guide to boilermakers (a “cocktail” that consists  of a glass of beer and a shot of whisky). The Crafty Squire’s Boilermaker Class will feature Scottish single malts and James Squire brews.

3. Golden Monkey celebrates both the Lunar New Year and its 10th anniversary in one sparkling night. There will be complimentary Asian bites, live music end electronica, lion dancing, and cocktail specials. Cheongsam wearing encouraged. ‘Tis going to be the year of the monkey after all.

7. Vin, vino, vinho. It’s soon to be Drink Wine Day. Any excuse really. Melbourne has experienced a flurry of new wine bars opening in the past year. We highly recommend you spend at least part of the day at one of them (how about Brunswick East Wine Bar, Embla, South Press, Smalls, Smithward, Marion, The Ugly Duckling, Prohibition Food and Wine, Saint Urban or Cochin?)

Thursday 18th February / Everywhere

8. How else to celebrate Margarita Day than with a few jugs of the citrusy stuff and preferably a bowl full of guacamole (all to yourself). Mamasita’s margarita recipe is a goodie.

Monday 22nd February / Everywhere

9. Today is Kahlua Day and tonight is officially Open that Bottle Night. You know what to do. On another note: why would Feb Fast choose to happen on such a celebratory month for adult beverages?

Saturday 27th February /Everywhere

10. MARCS stands for Melbourne, art, restaurant, cocktail and sound. It’s also a laneway festival featuring all of the aforementioned. You know we’re going for the ‘C’s by Eau De Vie and Harley House.
