In the lead up to the Travelling Takes Cocktail Competition hosted by Southern Comfort let’s take a look at the drink creation by Victorian winner Genevieve Madalay from The Noble Experiment. Her “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” cocktail is inspired by “all the weird fizzy drinks that kept me going on my travels through Asia. You never really knew what was in them…sometimes they were delicious, sometimes they were foul. The best one I had tasted something like this. A little bit sweet and sticky, fruity, and just a bit spicy.”
Genevieve’s own serving suggestion? “Best enjoyed whilst riding in a tuk tuk.”
Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
Note: you will need an Isi cream/soda charger or similar to make this cocktail bubbly.
90ml Southern Comfort
30ml Rittenhouse Rye
40ml honey syrup*
60ml fresh cantaloupe juice
20ml lemon juice
4 dashes angostura bitters
4 dashes Regans’ orange bitters
2 thin cantaloupe slice and mint leaves, to garnish
ice
- Make two cantaloupe “roses” by rolling up your cantaloupe slices and securing them fancy skewers. 2. Combine all ingredients (except ice and garnishes) in a shaker and shake for 10 seconds. 3. Double strain and transfer to an ISI charger and charge with one CO2 canister. You can skip this step but your drink won’t be bubbly. 4. Pour over ice into two Tom Collins glass (or a highball glass if easier). 5. Serve with your cantaloupe rose garnishes and a small bunch of mint leaves. Makes two.
