This weekend is for roaring fires, huddling in blankets and – with the welcome return of World Gin Day tomorrow – hot gin cocktails. Bass & Flinders Distillery have just released their seasonally spiced Winter Gin, spiked with apple brandy, and have kindly shared with us the secret to their Hot Buttered Winter Gin recipe. It’s giving us apple-pie-in-a-glass vibes.
– Hot Buttered Winter Gin –
– Ingredients –
45ml Winter Gin
60ml apple juice
20ml sugar syrup (infused with cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and orange)
1 generous knob of butter
1 cinnamon quill, to garnish
1 orange peel, to garnish
– Method –
Heat all ingredients – except garnishes – in a small saucepan over low heat until butter is melted and the flavours have infused (do not simmer or boil). Pour warm into a goblet glass. Garnish with the cinnamon quill and orange peel (and some fig if you’re feeling fancy).
