Recipe: The Black Lamington – An International Beer Day Cocktail

Cheers to International Beer Day 2017!

Here’s an original beer cocktail recipe inspired by – that epic Australian dessert – the Lamington an idea sparked by Quiet Deeds’ own Lamington Ale. The concoction below is a sweet-but-not-too-sweet, local twist on a famous beer cocktail called the Black Velvet. When it comes to the sparkling wine ingredient, ask your local wine merchant to recommend something dry, yeasty but not too expensive – this will be your “sponge”. In keeping with the classic recipe’s style, you can reserve half of the sparkling wine and layer it into the glass first for a two-tiered effect (only if you are feeling fancy and rather accomplished – we are rather too impatient to get the sipping part).
