Here’s a round up of new Melbourne drinking establishments to hunt out soon (plus some new drinkables).
—
Who is Jane Doe? She’s a new Chapel Street bar serving up Espresso Martinis and Boulevardiers (like a negroni only with American whisky) on tap, that’s who! Prahran
–
The Southsiders go Northside – and they take their dancing shoes with them – as the Less than Zero team launch the Bret Easton Ellis novel themed Glamorama. They’ve got Lamington fried ice-cream, serious DJ sounds and a cute courtyard too! Fitzroy
–
Atop the former Duke of Kent pub, which is now Tuxedo Cat, sits The Hills. Positioned like a backyard on a rooftop, this new bar posseses a grungy-but-comfy urban sharehouse style. Melbourne CBD
–
Hello lady! While they are still in the midst of renovations, Lady Nelson’s Wine + Kitchen is open for business. Be tempted in early by a pairing of so much delish wine and fried haloumi. We can’t wait to see the space once she’s all done. Windsor
–
Local whisky distillery New World now has its very own bar which doubles as a Starward cellar door, and we’re so happy to hear they are doing classic cocktails. The bar itself is created from a 40,000 litre brandy vat and 10 metres of French oak! Essendon Fields
–
Oh snap. A new dessert bar has opened called Damon Bradley. But this isn’t like other dessert places: this one’s all about dessert AND dessert wine matching! I feel a toothache and a hangover coming on soon. Worth it. Southbank
–
If you are fan of all things Italianate and summery you will be pleased to hear that Olivigna officially launched their very own estate Limoncello at Good Food month. It’s made from Olivigna-grown lemons out of their on-site Warrandyte South distillery. Saluti!
–
Also just launched is blended Scotch Whiskey Pure Scot. Now we like to stick to local spirits when we can, but this one is owned by a Melburnian! David Prior is living the dram dream and up an bought a distillery in the lowlands of Scotland. As you do. Find Pure Scot at Whisky & Alement, Eau De Vie, Boilermaker House, The Botanical and Go Go Bar now.
