The National Trust of Victoria will soon host their inaugural mini Whisky Festival in collaboration with the good folk at Whisky & Alement; Grain to Grass. Three days of whisky-centric events – amid sumptuous history-soaked surroundings – shall provide the perfect excuse to start our weekends early.
Rare & Limited Edition Tasting – Thursday 19 June, 5.30pm
This event is all about the numbers. 30 people only will sample exotic whiskies from 4 private collections worth over $5,850 collectively in the Heritage boardroom of 19th century house Tasma Terrace. Whisky & Alement owner Julian White will be your guide. $130 per person (including canapés).
Pop-up Bar – Friday 20 June, 6pm
The Old Melbourne Goal will transform into an American whisky bar. Actually it will become 12! A dozen mini-bars will showcase a different whiskey, wine or beer. There will be cocktails, a live band and nosh. $40 per person (includes two drinks and one food dish). Additional treats available to purchase.
Australian Whiskey Dinner – Saturday 21 June, 6pm
Meet the makers from local distilleries Lark, Starward, Bakery Hill and taste 8 whiskies with drinks and canapés on arrival, a three course dinner plus silent auction. The Ballroom at Ripponlea house will serve as the fitting backdrop to this fine event. $160 per person.
